Thank you so much for visiting The Universal Soul, a safe place dedicated to the spiritual journey we are all on and the overall health and wellness of the body, mind, and soul. So you must be wondering—maybe just a little—who is the woman behind the blog?
Well, first you must know that I am a writer and photographer; it’s how I see my world: words and pictures and more words... I am also someone who wears my heart on my sleeve; although for a long time I fought off that disposition. Now, I've learned to embrace it. The second thing you must know is that I love helping others learn and grow. If I can share in someone's successes or happy moment, I am a happy girl. And finally, I am a very spiritual person who is always neglecting my chores or worldly responsibilities so that I can write, read, ponder, pray, stare off into nature, or write songs on my guitar. I love God and genuinely good people. And what I love most is to learn from my journey. I yearn "to be the change I want to see in the world" and am fascinated by Eastern philosophy and by our creator's infinite love and profound mercy.
Craving some random facts? I am a high school AP Language English and journalism teacher and own a professional photography business at Phinney Photography. I am earning my MFA in Creative Writing at Goddard College in Vermont.
I met the love of my life at 14 years old. We've been together since I was of the tender age of 17. It's been a very difficult and beautiful 15 years, and yet we are still here, loving the heck out of each other and all our messy flaws. I am currently writing my first novel about themes that deal with the family saga, overcoming heartbreaking loss, and the personal narratives we create from our life journeys. I love to be active in the great outdoors, whether it's through yoga, biking, or playing with my three rescued pit bull terriers. My heart is in the North Carolina mountains, the poetry of Rumi, and the philosophy of Emerson. If you want to know anything else, just ask!
