Write it Down
If you see the world in words
There is a blanket of poetry
To lay over every experience
Under this wide, blue sky.
And if you dare to write those words
(Or speak them into existence)
You will see the storybook of your life unfold,
And whatever was once deemed ordinary
Will become extraordinary under its light.
Without words on the page
There is no memorializing
And the hazy, vengeful fog of time
Will carry off the memory
(Or at the very least its shear potency).
So lock up your life with words
Before its little wings grow the strength
To carry your misplaced mementoes on their backs
And fly away without you.
